The Denver Broncos just made a tough decision.
Releasing veteran safety Justin Simmons could come back to haunt them in the near future, and the fans aren’t happy at all.
Unsurprisingly, star CB Patrick Surtain II isn’t exactly thrilled either.
The star defender took to Twitter to react with sadness to this shocking turn of events.
“This one hurt man,” Surtain said.
This one hurt man ! 😢

For eight years, Simmons was one of the best defensive players in the game, not to mention a stalwart of the organization.
This move, however, will save the Broncos north of $14 million against the salary cap.
They will absorb over $3 million in dead money.
This move is most likely due to the Russell Wilson situation, as the team will take the largest dead money hit in NFL history, so they will need to lean on younger and cheaper players.
The star safety was a two-time Pro Bowler and exceeded all expectations for a third-round pick.
Of course, the Broncos can continue to rely on Surtain, one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but it’s going to be a tough adjustment to be out there without his partner.
As for Simmons, it shouldn’t be long before he finds himself a new home, as he’s just 30 years old, and multiple teams will be in the market for help in the secondary.
