The All-Star Game was an action-packed event full of fun, drama, and memorable moments in a showdown between the best of the best in the American League and the National League.

The American League won by a final of 3-2.

But a certain player last night, that being Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani, made a promise before he stepped into the batter’s box to lead off the game.

FOX Sports reporter Tom Verducci asked Ohtani what he was looking forward to most, to which Ohtani replied, “First pitch, first swing.”

True to form, on the first pitch, Ohtani picked up a base hit to lead off the game.

MLB tweeted a video of Ohtani coming through on his promise.

Ohtani Starts The Show

Ohtani is a man of his word.

He sure held up his end of the bargain last night.

It was like he had a vision.

His plan was to take a swing on the first pitch and get a hit.

And sure enough, Ohtani did just that.

He knew what he wanted to do.

He wanted to come out in full force and start the show off on the right foot.

That’s one way to start the show off right, getting a hit on the first pitch.

That signaled to everybody else that it was showtime.

And we ended up getting a pretty solid show last night for the All-Star Game.

Ohtani was the opening act, followed by Giancarlo Stanton and Byron Buxton‘s home runs.

The final act was Emmanuel Clase retiring the National League in short order to secure yet another American League victory.

Ohtani did his job, and so did everybody else on the AL side.
