The Denver Broncos have made several tough decisions to begin the offseason.
Russell Wilson’s release was somewhat expected, but they’ll now have to absorb the largest cap hit in NFL history, with more than $85 million due over the next couple of years.
Then, they parted ways with star safety Justin Simmons to try and get under the salary cap.
Now, they’ve agreed to send WR Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns for a 5th and a 6th-round pick in another salary-dumping move.
However, that could be a blessing in disguise for Sean Payton’s team.
According to a report by James Palmer of the NFL Network, Payton had been quite vocal about his desire to get WR Marvin Mims more involved in the offense.
Sean Payton also has been very clear that they want second year WR Marvin Mims to increase his role in the offense. One of the things stopping him from getting on the field was Jerry Jeudy, as the two filled a similar role in the offense. Now Mims is no longer blocked.

His role was similar to Jeudy’s, which is why he had been somewhat limited.
So, with the Alabama product no longer being in his way, the Broncos could look to make him a focal point of the passing game alongside Courtland Sutton.
Even so, the Broncos still need to figure out who’s going to be throwing the football for them next season and for years to come.
Jarrett Stidham might not be what they need at this moment, and they may not be able to land JJ McCarthy, who’s reportedly Sean Payton’s favorite prospect from this class.
Whatever the case, it’s evident that the team has high hopes for Mims.
