For the Miami Marlins, the search for a new manager has come to an end.
This will be Schumaker’s first managerial gig in the big leagues.
He had been the bench coach for the San Diego Padres prior to taking on the same role in St. Louis under new manager Oliver Marmol.
The Marlins are no stranger to Schumaker of course, given that they share the same spring training facility with the Cardinals.
On Twitter, Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara put down a stamp of approval for the hire, posting a green and white checkmark in the caption.

Alcantara Applauds Marlins For Schumaker Hire
The Marlins seem to be going with an analytical approach with their new manager.
For several years, Schumaker has been lauded for his ability to mix analytics with different styles of play.
With the Marlins being a relatively young team, this might work out just fine for them.
Schumaker may be the ideal fit thanks to his ability to use analytics in such ways.
The Marlins finished 69-93 this past season and fell short of the postseason.
Alcantara, the ace of the Marlins and a National League Cy Young candidate, could very well benefit from having Schumaker around.
He’ll also have another solid starter in right-hander Pablo Lopez.
The Marlins will obviously have a ton of work to do before they can think about contending again, but hiring a young manager with good coaching experience is a good start.
