After spending weeks interviewing at least 10 managerial candidates and giving second interviews to four of them, the Miami Marlins finally found their man.
“BREAKING : The Miami Marlins are hiring Skip Schumaker as their next Manager per source,” the reliable Craig Mish, a Marlins insider, tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

Schumaker had been the St. Louis Cardinals bench coach in the 2022 season.
Before that, he was with the San Diego Padres since 2018 in a variety of roles that included first base coach and associate manager.
The Right Hire
Padres insider Kevin Acee knows him well, and explained why he is an amazing hire by the Marlins.
“Skip Schumaker being hired as Marlins manager is awesome because he’s a magnificent person, a smart baseball man, is respected by players — and because Miami was where he unloaded on Doug Eddings, pointing to players as he explained how the ump had wronged each guy,” he tweeted.

Mish explained the hiring process and how Schumaker impressed everyone on the Marlins, most notably general manager Kim Ng.
“Kim Ng got her guy. From the first interview Schumaker was a finalist. His interviews blew everyone away. Should be fun in Jupiter with Skip on the other side of the complex,” Mish tweeted.

Schumaker had an 11-year career as a player in MLB and won two World Series rings with the St. Louis Cardinals.
He started accumulating experience even after retiring.
Now, he is getting his first managerial opportunity in the bigs.
Fans may not be too familiar with him for obvious reasons (he hasn’t managed in MLB), but they approved the move for the most part.
Sandy and Jazz both approving of Schumaker should tell you that this was the right hire.
