Being compared to an NBA MVP should be a compliment, but former MVP Russell Westbrook has been one of the most heavily scrutinized MVP winners in league history due to his tendency to care more about stats than winning and coming up short many times when going up against his biggest rivals.
Former NFL safety Ryan Clark recently compared one NFL quarterback to Westbrook, and he did not mean it as a compliment.
On Friday morning’s episode of Get Up, Clark called Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson the Russell Westbrook of the NFL, saying “You remember when he and Damian Lillard went head-to-head, and it got emotional, he couldn’t make a shot. That’s the difference right now between Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.”

Jackson led the Ravens down the field with a shot to tie or win the game but threw two errant passes through the back of the end zone when Isaiah Likely and Zay Flowers were each wide-open in the last 20 seconds of the game.
Clark expounded that Westbrook at this point in his career is known more for his regular-season accolades and has had too many moments of not getting over the hump in the playoffs, but it’s probably too early to give Lamar that distinction after just five years as a starter under his belt and coming off a trip to the AFC Championship game.
That being said, he is now 1-5 against the Kansas City Chiefs and hasn’t proven he can get past his team’s biggest threat in the AFC.
That being said, you can say the same thing about pretty much every other team when it comes to facing the Chiefs, so Clark might be reaching a bit here.
