The Baltimore Ravens fell just short against the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL season opener on Thursday night after Isaiah Likely came down with a toe on the line in his attempt to catch a last-second touchdown in the back of the end zone, and the Chiefs once again found a way to pull out a victory.
There was one subplot throughout the game that looked to be going in the Chiefs’ favor, and one Ravens player wasn’t quiet about this after the game.
The Ravens were flagged for illegal formation on offense five times in the game, three of which were on left tackle Ronnie Stanley, and after the game Stanley had a lot to say about the issue when he stated, “The way it was going through the game, I really feel like they were trying to make an example and chose me to be the one to do that. As far as I saw, they weren’t doing it on both sides of the ball. I know that I was lined up in good position a majority of those calls they made.”
#Ravens LT Ronnie Stanley believes the league singled him out with the illegal formation penalties last night and says it wasn’t called evenly for both teams.

Stanley added, “I’m looking at their tackles, especially the right side, and I know I’m lining up in front of that guy, and they didn’t call him one time. It’s a little bit of making me feel like I’m crazy, [that] I don’t know where I’m lining up.”
Stanley didn’t get called for illegal formation a single time last year, and it’ll be interesting to see if this was just a one-time thing going forward or if the league is going to start calling this more often.
