For the first time in decades, it is a great time to be a fan of the Washington Commanders.
The franchise had been deeply mired in ineptitude ever since the early 1990s, but they’re coming off an unexpected trip to the NFC Championship Game, and with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, there seems to be tremendous room for growth moving forward.

“I think it can be great for our nation. I remember that as a kid growing up. The power of that. If that’s the best alternative, I think it would be a great thing,” Goodell said, via NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Washington was a flagship NFL franchise back when they played there and won three Super Bowl championships under head coach Joe Gibbs. It has not had similar success since moving its home games to Landover, Maryland.
Daniels, who is expected by many to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, is the Commanders’ first legitimate franchise quarterback since Joe Theismann in the 1980s, and they will have lots of salary cap space they can use to address their needs.
They’re likely just a couple of pieces away from returning to the heights they enjoyed back in the day and treating a new generation of fans to football greatness.
