The Colorado Rockies, despite having signed Kris Bryant, do not appear to have much of a shot at winning in 2022.
But the baseball gods can do some strange things from time to time, and they worked a little magic over Opening Weekend.
Not since 2018 had the Rockies won a series at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the heavy favorites to win it all this season.
The Dodgers seemingly had the Rockies’ number at Coors Field, but all of that changed over the weekend as the Rockies managed to take two out of three from the World Series favorites to start the season.

Bucking Trends
It’s always nice when a little history gets made in baseball, but for the Rockies, a frustrating trend has finally been broken.
They managed to protect their house and win a series against perhaps the best team in all of baseball.
This might be the most excitement they’ll get all year, but for now, it will do.
Rarely does a team that is likely to finish below .500 take a series against a team that is favored to win the World Series, but baseball is a crazy game, and the baseball gods often do strange things.
It’s nice for the Rockies to be able to finally put an end to that frustrating stretch where the Dodgers came into town and crashed their party.
For a team that doesn’t appear to have a good chance at winning to do that is impressive and it has to be a relief for the Rockies and their fans.
We’ll see if this translates into anything else going forward.
But for now, the Rockies have reversed an unfortunate trend.
