Something is going to happen to the Phoenix Suns this summer.
No one is sure what will occur, but it seems incredibly unlikely that the team will look the exact same at the start of next season.
The team could do business with a number of other franchises, but it sounds like the Houston Rockets will not move forward with trying to acquire Devin Booker.
Writing for The Athletic, Kelly Iko and Sam Amick wrote about the Rockets going lukewarm with their “serious interest” in Booker.
“The Rockets have previously held serious interest in the Suns’ Devin Booker, but team sources said that is no longer the case. Not only do team officials still have faith in Jalen Green, who is five years younger than Booker and $66 million cheaper over the next three seasons, but also Booker’s struggles last season shifted the thinking on this front,” Iko and Amick shared.
Booker averaged 25.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.1 assists on 46.1 percent from the field in 2024-25.
Although he would add a lot to Houston’s roster, he would also cost them a ton of money, and they still have faith in Jalen Green.
Other reports have said the Suns don’t want to move on from Booker.
In fact, it seems more likely that they will trade away multiple players so they can build a better roster around him.
However, the team is so disappointed after their disastrous 2024-25 season that they may be willing to do anything.
If the trade season is tough and their options become limited, they may attempt to ship Booker to another location.
But it seems that Houston won’t do business for the guard, although they may be more interested in acquiring Kevin Durant.
