The New York Jets took Zach Wilson with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Fast forward to today, and he might not even be QB2 for the upcoming season.
The Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers after some dreadful play by their first-round pick in 2022.
Wilson was so bad that he was even demoted to the bench, and it’s not clear if he’ll be activated next season.
However, HC Robert Saleh claims that the organization still has faith in his ability to become the quarterback they thought he could be.
Robert Saleh on Zach Wilson learning from Aaron Rodgers:
"He's handled this as good as a professional can handle this. I am confident that he's going to turn into the player that we know he can be." pic.twitter.com/abRK2gpzUh

He claims Wilson is handling things like a professional and lauded his maturity and competitiveness.
Perhaps all he needs is a couple of years behind Rodgers’ tutelage to fulfill his true potential.
Wilson vowed to make any veteran QB’s life difficult in practice if the Jets acquired one in the offseason, but there haven’t been any reports of him actually putting any sort of pressure on the four-time MVP.
Of course, Wilson is quite young, and it might be too early to count him out, but he’s going to have a tough time living up to the expectations that come with being the No. 2 pick.
He was impressive at BYU and his performance at the Pro Day made scouts think that he had the potential to be a franchise player.
That upside might still be there, and it’ll be up to him to be mature enough to handle this situation and come back better, more focused, and stronger than ever.
