The Los Angeles Chargers have made many moves over the past several days, especially in their wide receiver room.
Shortly after releasing Mike Williams, it was announced that the Chargers were trading Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears.
Allen was a staple of the Chargers for many years, but for whatever reason, the team decided to move on from him, leaving Justin Herbert without his top two pass-catchers.
While this trade might leave Chargers fans (and Herbert) scratching their heads, Bears fans have been extremely excited about this trade.
Allen is a longtime NFL veteran with extensive on- and off-field experience, which could be beneficial for this team’s immediate future.
In a tweet, Robert Griffin III confirmed this, calling Allen a “safety blanket WR to help develop a young QB.”
“Keenan Allen is the PERFECT safety blanket WR to help develop a young QB. He gets open in the rhythm and timing of the play allowing the QB to be more confident reading with his feet and getting the ball out on time,” Griffin said.

The Bears have been said to draft Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, pending a drastic change of events.
As Griffin indicates, a player like Allen could be an excellent mentor for Williams, a sure-handed athlete who could help him succeed in his first NFL season.
The Bears already have D.J. Moore in their receiver room, who performed well for this team in 2023.
If he and Allen can get on the same page with the team’s quarterback, whether it be Williams, Justin Fields, or somebody else, the Bears could surprise many people in 2024.
Having one elite pass-catcher is excellent, but having two is even better.
This move indicates that the Bears are not messing around and are ready to try to compete.
