The Arizona Cardinals enter the season projected to be the worst team in the league.
They don’t have a lot of talent on either side of the field, and with Kyler Murray set to miss at least half of the season, it’s hard to like their chances.
Moreover, their financial prospect regarding Murray isn’t encouraging either.
According to a report by ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio (Via Dov Kleiman), the team would owe Murray $37 million in 2024, $29 million in 2025, and $26 million in 2026 in injury guarantees if he’s unable to pass a physical before March.

With that in mind, the report states that the team could look to keep him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list throughout the entire season to prevent him from getting hurt again and thus make sure he passes that physical.
Kleiman points out that this is similar to what the Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts did with Derek Carr and Matt Ryan, respectively, last season.
Also, with the Cardinals most likely getting the top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and USC standout Caleb Williams reportedly being the projected No. 1 selection, this might be a move that could help them move on from Murray.
Murray and the Cardinals have been tangled up in countless controversies over the past couple of seasons.
Multiple members of the organization and even some of his teammates have called him out for not being mature enough to be a leader, and with all these injuries and the money he’s making, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them try and move in a different direction.
