Yesterday, Cincinnati Reds president Phil Castellini made some questionable comments, criticizing fans of the Reds who are frustrated with the direction the team is headed in.
The Reds have recently dealt away Tucker Barnhart, Jesse Winker, and Eugenio Suarez while watching Nick Castellanos depart for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Basically, what Castellini said was that he didn’t care what the fans thought and that they pretty much had no choice but to keep rooting for the Reds, which drew the ire of fans and players alike.
Castellini then made a weak apology as he attempted to walk back his moments and cover his behind.
#Reds president Phil Castellini issued the following statement: "I apologize to Reds fans and regret the comments that I made earlier today. We love this city, we love this team, and we love our fans. I understand how our fans feel and I am sorry."

An Insincere Apology
This apology could not be more fake and half-hearted.
The Reds did nothing this offseason aside from trading away almost all of their valuable assets and Castellini basically sees no reason for the fans to be frustrated with him or the current trajectory of the club.
But if you’re a Reds fan, how can you be happy with the direction the team is headed in?
The team was not too far off from reaching the postseason for a second consecutive year last season.
Even worse, they would have made it had the postseason format been 12 teams like it is now as agreed upon in the new CBA.
Castellini clearly does not care what Reds fans think, nor does he care about making the team better and giving them a chance to win.
Dark days are ahead for the Reds and their fans, and there’s no realistic hope of them contending anytime soon.
If Castellini even remotely cared, he wouldn’t have dealt away almost every valuable asset and would have tried to keep Castellanos.
