The Boston Red Sox often play with some odd dimensions in the outfield.
This is because Fenway Park has “The Green Monster” out in left field, a towering wall which can be difficult for players to hit home runs over.
It can be done, but it can also be incredibly difficult.
Hall-of-Famer Pedro Martinez certainly got used to pitching with the Monster out in left field.
On Wednesday night, the Red Sox were playing the Seattle Mariners in their series finale.
On the MLB Network broadcast, Martinez discussed the Monster and how he used it to his advantage while he was pitching at Fenway Park.

CC Sabathia asked Martinez if he approached pitching at Fenway Park differently as opposed to other ballparks.
Martinez stated that he did have a specific approach for Boston and then discussed how he used wall to his advantage.
The Hall-of-Famer talked about being able to get hitters to chase certain pitches, including his fastball.
He recalled that he was able to touch 97 mph with his fastball and that if hitters were to make contact with that pitch if he went high and inside with it, they would more than likely swing and miss.
Martinez discussed how he used the inside part of the plate and elevated his fastball for any hitter trying to hit to left field.
He knew that if he threw 97 to hitters and they tried hit the ball to center field or right field, they would have a much easier time making contact, but that if he went high and inside with his fastball, they would not be able to catch up to it.
