On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Rays continued their hot start to the 2023 season, winning their 12th game in a row and moving to within one win of tying the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers and 1982 Atlanta Braves for the most consecutive wins to start a season.
Starting for the Rays was right-hander Taj Bradley.
The 22-year-old was making his Major League debut on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox.
Bradley pitched five innings and allowed three runs on five hits while striking out eight batters and walking just one.
His first strikeout in the big leagues was a special one, as he fanned Rafael Devers.
Bradley’s mother was in attendance for the game, and she got to witness her son experience his dream.
On Twitter, the Rays posted a video of Bradley’s mom reacting to his first start.

It’s safe to say that Bradley’s mom is one proud parent.
She understands how hard it is to reach the big leagues and how hard her son has worked to make this possible.
And her reaction to Bradley’s first strikeout is simply priceless.
She performed a motion that an umpire would when calling a strikeout as she cheered on her son.
She continued to cheer and celebrate as her son worked his way through the Red Sox lineup.
Better yet, Bradley earned his first career win thanks to his efforts, so he and his mother got to experience a little extra joy together on such a fun night.
The Rays held off the Red Sox and won by a final score of 9-7.
