The Tampa Bay Rays have never been a team known for spending money.
Even when some of their best players are up for new deals, they would rather trade them than sign them to a new contract.
This offseason it became clear that pitcher Tyler Glasnow would be the next one to go.
He only had one year left on his contract and the Rays had no interest in re-signing him.
That is why Glasnow was traded from the Rays to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He has spent the last six years of his career as a member of the Rays.
And he has pitched in many big games for them and has had plenty of success.
Now, he can chase a World Championship on what looks to be the best team in the National League.
According to Talkin’ Baseball, Glasnow sent a farewell message to the Rays and their fans.
He stated: “The past 6 years have been the greatest years of my life.”

Glasnow now moves on to LA where he has agreed to play the next five seasons.
The Dodgers made it a point to sign Glasnow to a long-term deal as a part of the deal to acquire him.
Now they get one of the best pitchers in baseball to lead the top of their rotation.
With Walker Buehler recovering from Tommy John surgery and Shohei Ohtani unable to pitch in 2024, plenty of pressure will be on Glasnow to perform.
Glasnow has had a hard time staying healthy throughout his career.
But, if he can remain on the field, the sky is the limit for him in LA.
