The Texas Rangers offense ranked 17th in WAR (Wins Above Replacement) last year.
It was also 12th in runs scored and 19th in wRC+, an advanced stat that measures offensive performance relative to the league average of 100.
With a 98 wRC+ last year, the Rangers were below-average.
This year, however, things are vastly different.
The Rangers offense is second in MLB in WAR, just behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
They are also second in runs scored, seventh in home runs, and second in wRC+.
The turnaround has been incredible, and it’s one of the main reasons behind the team’s 20-13 start in 2023.
They are first in the AL West.
The Rangers offense is now capable of doing incredible damage.
“The Rangers have scored double-digit runs for the 9th time this season. They have reached double digits in an absurd 26.4% of their games this season, the highest in MLB, the Rays being the next highest at 19.4%. The most electric Offense in Baseball…” Rangers Muse tweeted.

That particular stat is unbelievable: they have scored 10 or more runs in more than a quarter of their games, at 26.4%.
That’s really absurd.
Catcher Jonah Heim (.313/.384/.566) has taken his game to another level, while Marcus Semien, Nathaniel Lowe, and Adolis Garcia all remain offensive stars.
Another reason why Texas now scores runs in bunches is the arrival of top prospect Josh Jung.
The third baseman is slashing .258/.308/.500 with eight home runs.
Other complementary pieces like Ezequiel Duran, Leody Taveras, and Travis Jankowski have answered the call, and the best part of it all is that Corey Seager, arguably the best hitter on the team, will return from the injured list eventually.
This is one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball.
