The New York Jets are reeling to begin the 2023 NFL season as they lost Aaron Rodgers in Week 1 to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Rodgers got sacked during the Jets’ first offensive series of the night and it appeared that something was seriously wrong when he sat on the turf for an extended period of time.
The quarterback had to be helped off the field and was later diagnosed with the injury.
With Rodgers lost for the rest of the regular season, New York will roll with Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback though it’s not out of the question that they look for a veteran for depth and insurance purposes.
A popular name that’s been suggested is Tom Brady who retired for a second time this past offseason.
Brady has emphasized that he’s done playing football, though his former teammate Randy Moss believes he would at least entertain the idea of a comeback if the Jets came calling via The Rich Eisen Show.
How many snaps could the @ProFootballHOF receiver give us right now? And could he ever see @TomBrady play for #TakeFlight?#NFL pic.twitter.com/kMi0sAxGlF

Moss jokes that New England Patriots fans would hate to hear Brady considering joining New York given their divisional rivalry, but there’s been no indication that he would actually come back to play.
Even at his age, Brady could still likely be a productive quarterback though it’s hard to imagine that he would set himself up to have to retire a third time.
In all likelihood, the Jets will have to either settle for a free agent option or make a trade for a backup to complement Wilson.
