In just a few short days, New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso will be taking part in a special event.
Alonso, a native of Tampa, Florida, has put on a special Home Run Derby event with the help of his foundation, where several stars from all over Major League Baseball will be joining.
On Monday, the star first baseman stopped by MLB Network and spoke with Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds on their morning offseason show.
Alonso talked about the excitement he has for this upcoming event and revealed that a few friends of his, Kyle Tucker, Christian Arroyo, and Gio Urshela will be taking part in the Derby along with Tampa Bay Rays great Carlos Pena.

When the offseason is taking place, it’s sometimes hard for baseball fans.
No games are happening quite yet, and there still are some moves that need to be made.
But something like this is a fun way to pass the time for some fans.
Alonso has also found a way to get kids involved in this special event.
He also talked about how baseball is ingrained in the Tampa community and how this event will be a great chance for fans and players to come together and network a little bit.
With several stars involved, this should be a fun event and a great opportunity to grow the game of baseball.
Two of the contestants, those being Tucker and Arroyo, are childhood friends of Alonso’s, so there may be some fun, friendly competition happening between the three of them.
