After the Houston Astros‘ 3-2 win over the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the ALCS, Hall-of-Famer Pedro Martinez made somewhat of a bold claim.
The Astros now lead the Yankees in the series, 2-0, and will look to try and pull off a sweep and advance to the World Series as soon as Sunday.
The Yankees now find themselves in dire straits as they head back to New York for the next three games.
But on the TBS postgame show, the former Boston Red Sox ace didn’t hold back, and referred to the defending American League champs as the Yankees’ “daddy.”

Who’s Your Daddy?
This is of course a reference to the 2004 postseason, when Martinez acknowledged his struggles against the Yankees and called them his “daddies.”
And when he took the mound at Yankee Stadium for Game 2 of the ALCS, the fans didn’t hold back, chanting, “Who’s your daddy?” at Martinez.
Ironically, the Yankees find themselves in the same position Martinez and the Red Sox were in for a long time, playing second fiddle to the Astros as the Red Sox had with them until 2004.
It’s the Yankees who are struggling right now to beat the Astros, who are very much in the driver’s seat as the series shifts to Yankee Stadium.
Martinez is surprisingly spot on with this claim.
The Yankees have been unable to overcome the Astros.
Houston beat them in seven games in the 2017 ALCS and knocked them out in six games two years later.
As of now, the story has been the same for Yankees.
It’s the Astros, not the Red Sox, who are their ultimate nemesis as of now.
But perhaps the Yankees can take a page out of their rivals’ book and pull off an epic comeback.
