The nightmare season for the Philadelphia 76ers is finally over, and now the team and its fans are looking forward.
They are hoping next season looks completely different than the slog they just pushed through, and Paul George recently spoke of his summer plans.
Talking to The Philadelphia Inquirer, George said that he, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid envision spending time together over the summer break.
“I think that’s very important,” George said. “We’ve already talked about seeing each other, where we’re going to be this summer. So we’ve already had those conversations about connecting once the season’s over. I think it’s very important. I don’t think it’s healthy to go two, three months before seeing each other, regardless of if we’re checking in over the phone. It’s just different seeing each other.”
This was supposed to be the big three that led the Sixers to new heights, but instead they hardly even played together in 2024-25.
The Sixers had a slew of bad injuries from the very start of the year and never got into any sort of rhythm.
They ended the season with a 24-58 record and the 13th seed in the East.
They haven’t given up hope on what the combination of George, Maxey, and Embiid can produce, and the three players are adamant about getting right back to it and planning for their next season on the court together.
Hopefully, they get plenty of time to rest, totally heal, and work together.
Ideally, they can also avoid any other injuries that might get in their way again.
George knows this season was bad, and he’s ready to say goodbye to it and move his team into the future.
