Like all Philadelphia 76ers fans, Paul George was disappointed by last season.
He wants a lot better for himself and his team in the months ahead.
Speaking with the Philadelphia Inquirer, he opened up about what he sees for himself in the 2025-26 season.
“Again, getting healthy, I’m the Paul George that the Sixers went out and signed,” the nine-time All-Star said when asked whether he sees himself more as a mentor than a star contributor this season. “I do think I’ve still got a lot of game in me. Playing at a high level, that’s still who I am. I’ve got to get to that point.”
George is planning to be back in the new season, but no one is quite sure how much of him they will get.
The hope is that he plays much more than the 41 games last season.
During that campaign, George contributed 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, and he never really looked like himself.
He has taken time to heal, but there is great concern that he still won’t be at 100 percent, much like his teammate Joel Embiid.
If George and Embiid are still hurting, the 76ers will be in a tough spot, and it’s hard to imagine them reaching the playoffs.
George made it clear that he’s not at the point he wants to be, at least not yet.
That’s a scary thought for Philadelphia fans, who were hoping he would be fully healed by now.
He hasn’t closed the door on getting to that point, but right now, he is still in the process of healing.
