The New England Patriots remain an enigma after their two decades of domination, especially during the offseason.
There could be years where they would stay put and be silent throughout free agency and training camp.
However, there are also instances like in the 2021 offseason wherein they went on a splurge by signing Hunter Henry, Matthew Judon, Jonnu Smith, and Nelson Agholor, to name a few.
In 2022, the Patriots have set the wheels in motion by signing Ty Montgomery and Terrance Mitchell
They’ve also brought back right tackle Trent Brown and safety Devin McCourty.
Unfortunately, they lost cornerback J.C. Jackson to the Los Angeles Chargers.
To fortify their defensive secondary, the Patriots reached out to a five-year veteran, as ESPN’s Field Yates reported.
The Patriots are hosting former Giants and Browns S Jabrill Peppers on a visit today, per source.
Peppers played for Joe Judge in 2020-2021, so there’s familiarity already.
The 26-year old brings plenty of defensive versatility, something New England always covets.

Yates revealed, “The Patriots are hosting former Giants and Browns S Jabrill Peppers on a visit today, per source. Peppers played for Joe Judge in 2020-2021, so there’s familiarity already. The 26-year old brings plenty of defensive versatility, something New England always covets.”
If the visit goes well, New England can somehow fill the void that Jackson left with Peppers.
The former Michigan standout spent three seasons with the New York Giants, two of which came under former head coach Judge.
Unfortunately, they did not win many games as Judge got the pink slip after a 10-23 record.
Defense Is The Patriots’ Priority
As always, bolstering the defensive side has been head coach Bill Belichick’s priority.
Without those adjustments, the Patriots wouldn’t have six Super Bowls.
They are hoping that Peppers can help neutralize the high-powered receiving units of their division rivals.
The Buffalo Bills still have Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, and Jamison Crowder.
Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins made a splash by acquiring Cedrick Wilson and All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
