Last week, things got a little heated during a scrimmage at practice for the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, with superstar tight end Travis Kelce getting into it with some of his teammates on the defensive side of the football for being a little too physical.
Although Kelce can let it fly with a microphone in his hand as he doesn’t mind expressing himself or talking trash to opponents, this is the first time that he’s gotten into it with some of his Chiefs teammates, which is uncharacteristic of the future Hall-of-Famer, to say the least.
It wasn’t once but twice that Kelce was seen fighting with teammates on the practice field, which raised cause for concern that maybe something was going on in the locker room.
Fortunately, Kelce publicly came out to take the blame for the incident and admitted that he needed to be a better leader, which is a good sign.
On Wednesday, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes addressed Kelce’s on-field actions, via Chanel Porter of ABC 17 News, saying he “loves the fire.”

As a title-contending team heading into a title defense, seeing a leader of Kelce’s caliber getting heated on the field with other teammates is something Mahomes and company never want to see.
However, if any team in the NFL can deal with internal beef or conflict, it is Andy Reid’s squad, as this team has shown time and time again that they can get past things and persevere.
It’ll be interesting to see if this becomes a persistent problem with Kelce or if it was simply something that will blow over before the season gets underway.
