Patrick Mahomes has been a blessing for the Kansas City Chiefs since he became the team’s starting quarterback in 2018.
Since taking over for Alex Smith, the Chiefs haven’t missed the playoffs and competed in four consecutive AFC Championships.
The Chiefs also won Super Bowl LIV, the second championship in franchise history.
That year was special because Mahomes also became the regular season Most Valuable Player and Super Bowl MVP that year.
In his sixth NFL season, the Chiefs remain competitive despite losing All-Pros Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu during the offseason.
Despite those departures, the Chiefs have won four of their first five games.
But in Week 6, they will be in a situation they’ve never experienced.
The Chiefs are underdogs at Arrowhead – a first with Mahomes as the starting QB. The Chiefs were favored in all 41 of his previous home outings, easily the longest streak to start a career for any QB who debuted since 1985

The Chiefs will be facing the Buffalo Bills, a team that leads the league in yards per game (440.4) and passing yards per game (324).
The Bills are also second to the Chiefs in points per game at 30.4.
However, Buffalo also has a defensive unit as dominating as their offense.
They are second in total yards allowed (260.4), fourth in passing yards allowed (182.6), and second in rushing yards allowed (77.8) per game.
The Bills are also tied with the San Francisco 49ers for the fewest points allowed through Week 5 at 12.2 per game.
Another Chapter In The Blossoming Chiefs-Bills Rivalry
Josh Allen is in MVP form five weeks into the 2022 NFL season.
He leads the league in passing yards and has 14 touchdown passes to four interceptions.
The former Wyoming standout also has 225 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
He will try to lead the Bills to victory against the team that eliminated them in the playoffs the past two seasons.
The Bills lost to the Chiefs in the 2020 AFC Championship Game.
A year later, the Chiefs came from behind to win in overtime during that thrilling Divisional Round showdown.
Both games were played at Arrowhead Stadium.
