A team like the Carolina Panthers is not going to make many major headlines late in the season, aside from pulling off an upset victory or two.
However, they are continuing to update their 53-man roster and practice squad as the weeks move on.
In one of their most recent moves, they made the decision to waive running back Dillon Johnson from the practice squad (per insider Sheena Quick).

Johnson went undrafted out of Washington this offseason and ended up signing with the Tennessee Titans in the summer.
After he was waived by Tennessee, he signed with the Panthers and has spent almost the whole season on the practice squad.
The former All-Pac-12 performer will look to continue his NFL career elsewhere after he wasn’t able to make it work with Carolina.
Johnson does have a history of switching teams and making it work with the next opportunity.
After transferring from Mississippi State to Washington in 2023, he rushed for 1,195 yards and 16 touchdowns (led Pac-12) en route to helping the Huskies win the conference and make it to the national championship.
Time will tell which team decides to take a chance on the 23-year-old back.
For the 3-11 Panthers, they are slated to face the Arizona Cardinals at home this Sunday in what is a must-win game for the Cardinals.
They now have a chance to play spoiler.
Carolina will then finish up the season on the road in the NFC South with games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons.
