For the first time in more than 700 days, the Carolina Panthers were finally favored in a game again.
That didn’t do much to help their case, as they still lost to the Dallas Cowboys.
However, for the most part, and aside from a couple of miscues, Bryce Young continued to show signs of promise.
According to former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, that has everything to do with confidence.
Talking to The RG Media, the former coach stated that Young “gets it,” adding that he’s finally coming together because he’s playing with confidence.

Young didn’t look like an NFL-caliber quarterback in his rookie season or at the start of this year.
Then again, the decision to bench him might have been a blessing in disguise.
He was forced to take the field again when Andy Dalton was hurt in a car accident, and he’s played much better since he returned.
He’s no longer pressing and doesn’t look overmatched or overwhelmed anymore.
That speaks volumes about how teams often rush to give up on their struggling quarterbacks, even though they weren’t ready to take the field in the first place.
Of course, Young’s physical limitations will never go away, as he won’t grow suddenly.
Still, the game has slowed down for him, and his decision-making has been much better.
Props to head coach Dave Canales for the work he’s done with him, and while the Panthers still haven’t won many games, they might have a franchise quarterback on their hands.
