The Carolina Panthers already have a former No. 1 pick in their offense, and they want to add one on the other side of the ball.
They just lost star pass rusher Brian Burns in a trade to the New York Giants, and while they might not be able to replace him, they could add a proven veteran and hometown product to the mix.
According to a report by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, they’re set to host free agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney for a visit.
A possible homecoming in Carolina: The #Panthers will host three-time Pro Bowl selection and Rock Hill, S.C. native Jadeveon Clowney on a visit to this week, sources say. Clowney has interest from a few teams, including the #Ravens, but is exploring a return home first. pic.twitter.com/War9BCIYKE

The 31-year-old is a Rock Hill, SC native, and he played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks, so there are obvious ties with the organization.
Garafolo adds that the Baltimore Ravens are still in the mix to re-sign him, and other teams are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Thus far, Clowney has played for five different teams in his career.
The Houston Texans took him No. 1 in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Following five seasons in Texans, he joined the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans for one year each, and then played two years for the Cleveland Browns before a lone season with the Ravens.
Clowney tied his career-high with 9.5 sacks last season.
He’s obviously never going to be the superstar defensive end some scouts thought he’d be, and those comparisons to Reggie White or Lawrence Taylor were a big reach, but he’s still a proven veteran who could be a huge signing for Dave Canales’ team.
