There’s nothing in sports quite like a great rivalry, and the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have a good one brewing ahead of Sunday’s marquee matchup with first place in the NFC North on the line.
Detroit is looking like the class of the NFC so far at 6-1 and a league-leading +100 point differential, but one Packers player isn’t too impressed and called the team out ahead of Sunday’s matchup.
Packers safety Xavier McKinney weighed in on the Lions this week and said he believes Detroit tries to embarrass teams. noting “This organization and the players we have in here, they don’t really take that lightly. We know that that’s what they’re going to come here and try to do.”

McKinney acknowledged that the Lions are a good team but his Packers just need to play their game and take care of business and they will be okay.
What he is likely referring to in terms of embarrassing teams is the way the Lions have been running trick plays in recent weeks en route to blowing out the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys recently.
Detroit has scored at least 42 points in three of its last four games and certainly enjoys opening up the playbook and having fun, and perhaps the Lions do enjoy embarrassing teams.
Maybe that’s what happens when you have decades of frustration built up due to being arguably the NFL’s least successful franchise for 50+ years.
McKinney leads the league with six interceptions and will have his hands full with this Lions offense, and this should be one of the best games of the year so far.
