Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Noah Syndergaard still hasn’t faced the New York Mets, his former team.
He has been close to doing that two times this season: one when he was a member of the Los Angeles Angels, and the other one would have happened this week.
“For the second time this season, Noah Syndergaard is pushing back a start that would have come against the Mets. It first happened in Anaheim earlier this year. Now with the Phillies, Syndergaard will slide from Sunday to Monday to receive an extra day of rest, per @ScottLauber,” Anthony DiComo of MLB.com tweeted.

If you recall, “Thor” became somewhat of a villain in the eyes of Mets fans when he implied that the combined no-hitter they achieved earlier in the season wasn’t as valuable as one in which only one pitcher took care of the whole 27 outs.
Mets Fans Have Some Beef With Syndergaard
When Angels rookie Reid Detmers pitched a no-hitter after Tylor Megill, Drew Smith, Joely Rodríguez, Seth Lugo, and Edwin Díaz combined to throw one for the Mets, Thor said “this is what a real no-hitter looks like,” presumably referencing the Mets’ feat.
He later said that his Instagram story was about Detmers and not about the Mets, who he praised saying they have a “good team”.
He did make it clear that he considers no-hitters thrown by just one pitcher to be much more valuable than combined efforts.
Mets fans insulted him on social media, so he probably wants to avoid any potential conflicts.
Syndergaard is now in the middle of a playoffs race with the Phillies, and has a 3.95 ERA for the season in 98 innings between Philadelphia and Los Angeles.
