The Philadelphia Phillies were off to a bad start before they ultimately fired manager Joe Girardi.
Since then, they’ve gotten hot and have forced themselves back into the postseason race, as they now hold the second Wild Card spot in the National League.
Last night, the Phils achieved an important milestone with their 11-4 blowout victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Rhys Hoskins led the way with two home runs and five RBI as the Phillies captured their 10,000th victory in franchise history.
The Phils are the ninth team in Major League history to reach this milestone, and they extended their lead over the San Diego Padres for the second Wild Card spot to a game-and-a-half.

Built Different
This Phillies team is different than the Phillies teams of the recent past.
Finally, the pieces seem to be coming together after their window had appeared stuck.
More importantly, the Phillies achieved a historic milestone.
They joined the Reds, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Francisco Giants on the list of teams who have won at least 10,000 games in their franchise history.
Ironically enough, they joined a list featuring the team they beat last night to accomplish their feat.
Without Bryce Harper, the Phillies have been forced to piece things together, but they have been able to do just that this season as they have finally found their way back into contention.
With the way they’ve been playing, they look poised to reach the postseason for the first time since 2011.
But for now, 10,000 wins in franchise history will do just fine.
They’ll go for a sweep today in Cincinnati.
