The Kansas City Chiefs enter the season as the team to beat in the AFC — again.
But there were already some doubts about their ability to repeat as Super Bowl champions, especially with superstar DT Chris Jones likely to take his holdout deep into the season.
Add in Travis Kelce’s injury ahead of the season opener, and some aren’t that bullish on them anymore.
Notably, that’s not the case with FOX Sports analyst Nick Wright, who recently went on “First Things First” to double down on his faith in Andy Reid’s team.
"With or without Travis Kelce, the Chiefs are going to hang 30+ on the Lions. The question is will it be 40+." 😳

Wright boldly predicted that even without Kelce, the Chiefs would drop at least 30 points on Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions, and the real question was whether they would be able to put up at least 40.
The Lions have a much-improved defense, so as much as the Chiefs should be favored to win this game — even without Kelce –, it will be hard to live up to that prediction.
Of course, anything can happen when you have Patrick Mahomes under center and Andy Reid calling the shots on the offense, and the Chiefs should be inspired as they unveil another Super Bowl banner, but that might still be too much.
The Chiefs haven’t officially ruled Kelce out for this matchup either.
He hyperextended his knee, and while most believe he’s not going to be on the field, his brother Jason recently stated that he’s optimistic about his status.
Betting against the Chiefs hasn’t been a smart wager more often than not, but maybe we should pump the brakes a little on Wright’s prediction.
