The Kansas City Chiefs just got some terrible news.
Star tight end Travis Kelce hyperextended his knee, and his status for Thursday night’s season opener vs. the Detroit Lions is reportedly in doubt.
However, his brother Jason sounds way more optimistic.
In a recent interview for the WIP Morning Show, the Philadelphia Eagles star stated that he went through the same thing once, and he didn’t miss any time because of that.

He added that Travis didn’t suffer any sort of structural damage, and he claimed he strongly thinks he’s going to be available for the game.
Jason says that the injury can be really painful, but it’ll all come down to whether they’re able to get the swelling down and how bruised the bone is.
Needless to say, not having Travis Kelce on the field is a massive blow to Andy Reid’s offense, even with Patrick Mahomes there.
The Chiefs were already undermanned due to Chris Jones’ holdout, and they cannot afford to be without their best pass-catcher as well.
Nonetheless, the NFL season is a very long grind, so maybe they should play it safe with their superstar, even if that means not having him on the field for the season opener.
Should that be the case, then it would be up to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, and Skyy Moore to do most of the heavy lifting in the passing game, all while second-year running back Isiah Pacheco also gets more involved in the flow of the game.
