One doesn’t have to be a football connoisseur to realize the major differences between college football and the National Football League.
We’ve seen multiple players thrive at the collegiate level and then fail to live up to the expectations at the next level for countless reasons.
A poor work ethic, injuries, bad luck, an unfavorable position or system, and whatnot can affect a player’s career.
However, sports analyst Nick Wright still believes that Caleb Williams — who has yet to set foot on an NFL field — is already over the likes of Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson in terms of today’s quarterbacks.

Wright explained that the football universe currently revolves around Patrick Mahomes, and as such, people need to consider whether their quarterback can go toe-to-toe with him.
Wright believes that Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen have already proved that they’re up to the task, whereas he’s not so sure about Herbert and Jackson.
As for Williams, he raved about what he’s accomplished in college and called him a can’t-miss kind of talent, a superstar, and a guy who will be able to compete with Mahomes.
Of course, Williams has been excellent in college, and there’s no denying that he looks like a potential star at the next level.
But so did Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell, Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel, Marcus Mariota, Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, and so on.
Hopefully, Williams won’t join that list and will end up being as good as expected, if not better.
But maybe we should pump the brakes when comparing college kids with actual professionals.
