The Philadelphia Eagles do not have a starting quarterback competition entering this season.
That job has been secured by Jalen Hurts.
But, there seems to be a competition as to who will back-up Hurts for this upcoming year.
Right now it is between Marcus Mariota and rookie Tanner McKee.
Having a strong backup quarterback in Philadelphia should be a priority.
That is because, with the rushing nature of Hurts, he is more prone to injury than other quarterbacks.
For the backup job, it seems like McKee might be the one with the upper hand.
According to Zach Berman, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said: “Really pleased with how he was this preseason.”
Sirianni on Tanner McKee: "Really pleased with how he was this preseason. …I know he got sacked a bunch at Stanford. We’re pretty good on the O-line, though — no offense to anybody there. He felt really comfortable back there. You could definitely see that."

McKee led the Eagles in passing this preseason, and he was the only Eagles quarterback to throw a TD.
If they are looking for the backup with the most upside, that may be McKee.
Mariota has been around the league and we all know what he can do.
He is best as a rusher, which could make him a good fit for the Eagles offense.
But, he is not someone you can count on for a long period.
Many teams seem to overlook their backup quarterback position.
But, one injury could lead to that player being the most important on the team.
It will be interesting to see which way the Eagles decide to go.
Yet, the player they choose may have to see the field at some point.
