The Philadelphia Eagles made a huge splash when they traded for A.J. Brown, acquiring one of the best wideouts in the game.
But that shouldn’t overshadow the fact that they already had a legit No. 1 wide receiver in DeVonta Smith, a collegiate star who didn’t need a lot of time to make an impact in the NFL as well.
Smith, however, has also proven to be a bit of an unorthodox guy in terms of his game-day preparation.
He had already stated that he needed to have McDonald’s for breakfast before any home game, with his go-to meal being a McGriddle with two hash browns and some orange juice.
DeVonta Smith says he eats McDonald’s for breakfast before any home game: “If it’s a home game, I’m going to McDonald’s. I’m not even gonna lie to you, I get a McGriddle, two hash browns, and an orange juice. I gotta have it.” #Eagles pic.twitter.com/Nlz3R5kL7m

Now, the University of Alabama standout admits that he also needs to be sleep-deprived in order to thrive.
Smith told The Pivot that he plays much better when he gets fours hours of sleep, going as far as to say that he’s not going to be any good if he gets at least eight hours (via Eagles Nation).
DeVonta Smith says he plays better when he is sleep-deprived: “I don’t need a lot of sleep. I get 4 hours of sleep, I’m good. All I need is 4 hours. If I get a full 8 hours, I ain’t gonna be worth nothing the next day.”#Eagles

Well, that cannot be healthy, but whatever works.
Smith is one of the best players in the league in terms of route-running and creating separation, so his methods are clearly on point.
Everybody’s different and knows what works better for them to be at their best, but this one is a first.
Eagles fans will now hope insomnia hits right before every game, and the local McDonald’s better get ready to have his order as soon as he shows up.
