Sam Darnold is still hoping to prove he can be a franchise quarterback with the Carolina Panthers in 2022.
He still holds the job by default, thanks to his team not making any major moves at the position this offseason.
They did draft Matt Corral, but not until the third round.
This has apparently led star receiver Robbie Anderson to openly ponder retirement with a tweet Saturday afternoon.

“Ain’t gone lie Thinking bout Retiring…” is not exactly a ringing endorsement of the quarterback situation in Carolina.
Naturally, fans had a field day roasting Darnold after seeing this message from his receiver.

Darnold may want to get on his phone and try to patch this up before training camp rolls around.
Fans Have Fun Roasting Sam Darnold
There are far too many NSFW messages towards the quarterback, which seems a bit unfair.
However, the ones safe to share are still funny.

Anderson showed up in Carolina and went over 1,000 yards in 2020.
But then Matt Rhule decided he wanted Darnold and the team even took on his fifth-year option for the 2022 season.
It was a bold move that certainly did not pay off.

Yes, there is still time to turn things around.
But four full years for the quarterback, even split between the lowly New York Jets and the Panthers, may be enough for Anderson to know nothing will change.

So will Anderson follow through on his claim?
At this point he just said he is thinking about retiring.
Maybe there is more to this that fans don’t know?
That may be true, but on the surface it is clear that the quarterback situation is not making him want to stick around.

Joe says
Robbie should just ask for a trade.
Maybe the hold damn team should ask to be treaded. San Darnold is not nor will he ever be a NFL PLAYER. Two teams and still bad.
Robbie Anderson knows the deal.
