But, they still need to get him back sooner than later.
Cooper Rush has filled in admirably as backup, but Dallas can use Prescott to help upgrade their offense.
The Cowboys’ QB1 has been out with a broken bone in his thumb since Week 1.
But, it appears he is closing in on his return.
From @NFLGameDay: #Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is as close to returning as he's been. He's still got some work to do before he's able to return to practice this Wednesday, but he's progressing well. pic.twitter.com/feE6r5d9vN

The Cowboys would love to have Prescott back for Week 7 when they host the Detroit Lions.
The quicker they can get Prescott reacclimated to the offense the better.
With the way Dallas’ defense has played, this team has a chance to be very good with a better QB.
This week will be a huge one for Rush.
If he can play well again and lead the Cowboys to a victory over the Eagles, that might give the Cowboys some reason to rest Prescott for another week.
Plenty of credit should be given to the Cowboys’ coaching staff over the last four weeks.
The Cowboys were underdogs in three of the four games, yet won them all.
Mike McCarthy was considered to be on the hot seat after Week 1.
But, that no longer seems to be the case as long as Dallas keeps winning.
People will continue to talk about a QB controversy if Rush beats the Eagles on Sunday.
But, it seems to be quite clear that this is Prescott’s team.
It is only a matter of when not if, the former Mississippi State product can start again.
