The Dallas Cowboys had the scare of a lifetime during the first game of the NFL 2022 season.
With the Cowboys hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night, they had all their star players together.
However, an injury to starting QB Dak Prescott during that game had fans feeling the season was already over.
But luckily for them, the team is going into week six with a 4-1 record.
While that news is good, they heard something new from Jerry Jones about the status of their star QB.
So what is the Cowboys’ team owner saying about Prescott going into week six?
Jones Says How Prescott’s Healing Is “Just Great”
During an interview, Jerry Jones had good news to report to fans about Dak Prescott.
Jerry Jones was asked on @1053thefan if he expects Dak Prescott to start next week vs. the Lions: “I don’t want to say, but he has made a lot of progress. Throwing the ball with zip and (that’s) very, very important. How he is healing is just great. So all systems on go there.”

While he didn’t say if the star QB was starting against the Lions, he said the QB was making progress.
With good news about the “zip” he’s putting on his passes, things are trending in the right direction for him.
However, it might be wise to continue to let Cooper Rush run the Cowboys’ offense.
While many were afraid Rush was going to tank the Cowboys’ season, he’s actually saving their season.
He’s doing all the right things while making few mistakes.
But he’s also getting help from his defense, who’s terrorizing opposing quarterbacks.
With Rush doing what’s needed, should they let him finish out the season?
If Rush Can Lead The Cowboys To Victory Over The Eagles, He Should Stay In Over Prescott
The toughest challenge for the current Cowboys’ QB will be the Philadelphia Eagles.
They come into their Sunday night game with a 5-0 record, as their team is firing on all cylinders.
However, if Rush can overcome the Eagles’ defense, then he’ll have a case to stay in as the team’s starting quarterback.
With a victory, he can prove that he’s the leader the Cowboys need as they have hopes of reaching the Super Bowl.
While some doubt Rush can win against the Eagles, Skip Bayless believes in the Central Michigan alumni.

But will a win against the Eagles make Prescott an afterthought?
Prescott’s Career With Dallas Might Rest On Cooper Rush
If Cooper Rush proves himself as the QB that can win against a tough Eagles defense, then Prescott could be in trouble.
His time might slowly end if Rush continues as a successful QB in the NFL.
It could be a story similar to that of Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady from 2001.
Prescott is the franchise QB, much like Bledsoe was for the New England Patriots in 2001.
However, an injury to Bledsoe saw Brady taking over the team and never looking back.
The same might happen in Dallas, as Rush is having success, much like Brady did in 2001.
While this is his Brady moment, it can be a Bledsoe moment for Prescott.
The continuing success of the Central Michigan QB can turn the star QB into an afterthought.
If that happens, Prescott will become the next Drew Bledsoe, an overpaid QB who is long forgotten.
