Arizona Cardinals fans are in for a long 2023 season as the team is widely projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL.
The Cardinals will be without starting quarterback Kyler Murray who continues to rehab a torn ACL he suffered in 2022, but even if he was healthy the roster as a whole lacks the requisite talent and depth to truly compete in the NFC West let alone the rest of the league.
Despite hiring a new head coach in Jonathan Gannon to turn the franchise around, Arizona must understand that 2023 will be used to evaluate the current players on the team and figure out who they should keep long-term.
The worst place to be in professional sports is in the middle, so while team owners might not like it, the best chance to reset an organization is by tanking for a high draft pick.
Recently, the Cardinals made an interesting decision to release veteran quarterback Colt McCoy.
Arizona waiving McCoy signals they may be going all-in on a rebuild and Kyle Brandt of Good Morning Football believes they already have a target in mind.

Caleb Williams is considered to be the consensus best quarterback in the upcoming 2024 class and it’s easy to see why when watching him on the field.
Williams has the arm, poise, and legs to make plays no matter the situation, and that kind of talent is too hard to pass up.
Even though the Cardinals already have Murray, they’d be hard-pressed to not take Willims if they do end up with the No. 1 overall pick next year.
