The Los Angeles Rams got back in the win column in Week 6, defeating the Panthers 24-10.
But, they did so without their starting running back, Cam Akers.
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the former second-round pick has stepped away from the team for “personal reasons” and may never play for the Rams again.

This came as a surprise to many people around the league who were expecting Akers to take a big step this season.
He played a big role in their Super Bowl run last year but has not been able to have an impact on the 2022 team.
For the season Akers has 51 rushes for 151 yards and one touchdown in five games.
Akers must have been expecting to be the lead back this season but that has not been the case.
He has been splitting carries with Darrell Henderson and that could be one reason for him wanting out.
Plus, the Rams are playing badly.
Despite beating the Panthers this week, they still struggled on offense for a large portion of the game.
It remains to be seen what teams might be interested in Akers.
The Bills and Broncos are two teams that could use some RB help.
But, Akers is not even the most sought-after RB on the market.
With Christian McCaffrey also available for trade, most RB-needy teams will turn their focus to the better player.
Ultimately, the Rams have to move Akers if he no longer wants to be a part of this team.
They do not need any additional turmoil in their locker room with the Akers’ situation.
