The Kansas City Chiefs are looking for options to address the void left by All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
They’ve added JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to give quarterback Patrick Mahomes more targets downfield.
Both players should give the Chiefs a serviceable receiving corps with Mecole Hardman and Josh Gordon.
Besides, tight end Travis Kelce can also become their offense’s top target.
However, it would be tougher to get open without a speedster who can attract defenders with his speed.
That’s the guy Kansas City lacked and they might have addressed it by selecting Western Michigan’s Skyy Moore in round two of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs hope that their rookie wideout will translate his quick 40-yard dash time into long receptions.
But the Super Bowl LIV champions didn’t stop there by signing undrafted free agent Justyn Ross.
The former Clemson standout had an impressive game against Alabama during the 2018 CFP National Championship.
However, a string of injuries might make him more a liability than an asset.
Justyn Ross had a congenital fusion of his upper cervical spine and then a surgical fusion at a level below performed by Dr. David Okonkwo, a respected Steelers doc. Many teams had taken him off their draft boards, so the risk was real. But the talent is also real. Lands in KC. https://t.co/GcK4HR1q6O

NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport tweeted, “Justyn Ross had a congenital fusion of his upper cervical spine and then a surgical fusion at a level below performed by Dr. David Okonkwo, a respected Steelers doc. Ross’ Injury History
The Chiefs hope that they will get the Ross that dominated the Crimson Tide while avoiding injuries.
He has quite an extensive injury history, starting from ACL tear on his right knee back in 2015.
Then there’s the congenital cervical fusion surgery in 2020 and a Jones fracture on his left foot last year which also required surgery.
Kansas City would like to see what they’ve got in him.
If he performs well, the Chiefs might have pulled off a heist.
