After signing with the Green Bay Packers, wide receiver Sammy Watkins is getting another lease on his NFL career.
With Davante Adams leaving for the Las Vegas Raiders, the NFC North division champions needed the former Clemson standout.
Last season, the 28-year-old wideout played for the Baltimore Ravens, finishing with 394 yards and a touchdown.
But while he only caught 27 passes for Baltimore, he had a few big plays.
He will also be reunited with Matt LaFleur, who became his offensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Rams.
That year, Watkins had eight touchdowns, averaged 15.2 yards per catch, and had ten catches of at least 20 yards.
Yet even if Watkins fills a need for Green Bay, they would like him to earn his money in 2022.
The Packers might give him a more significant contract with more guaranteed money if he does well.
Contract terms: The #Packers signed WR Sammy Watkins to a 1-year, $1.85M deal with $350K coming in a signing bonus.
He has $2.15M available in incentives for playing time ($525K max), receptions ($525K max), receiving yards ($525K max) and receiving TDs ($575K max).
So $4M max.

Pro Football Focus writer Ari Meirov shared the breakdown of Watkins’ one-year deal with Green Bay.
He will receive a base salary of $1.85 million and a signing bonus of $350,000.
However, he could earn up to $4 million if he meets certain conditions.
He could get a $525,000 incentive for playing time and up to $525,000 for receptions.
Watkins could also pocket another $525,000 for a certain number of receptions and up to $575,000 for receiving touchdowns.
Playing With Aaron Rodgers Will Be A Blessing For Watkins
Having reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback will improve Watkins’ chances of meeting those conditions.
Of course, Rodgers has to spread the ball to Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb.
But the veteran quarterback is one of the more accurate passers in the league.
Last season, he had 37 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
In 2020, Rodgers completed a career-high 70.7 percent of his passes for 48 touchdowns and five picks.
Therefore, the four-time NFL MVP will help elevate Watkins’ production.
