Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane made some bold and slightly controversial comments this week.
He compared his team’s roster to the Cincinnati Bengals’, giving them props on the win, but taking a shot at the way the organization has managed to turn the team into a contender.
Per Beane, the Bengals had to go through some tough years to get Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, going as far as to say that he doesn’t want to be as bad as that to be in a position to land such a great talent.
Beane believes the Bengals have a huge edge over the rest of the league because most of their star players are on rookie deals, as if that was a bad thing.
That’s why FS1’s Nick Wright didn’t hesitate to fire back at the Bills’ GM, mostly because of the fact that Josh Allen‘s extension hasn’t even kicked in yet:
“Josh Allen’s extension hasn’t kicked in yet,” Wright said. “Allen & Diggs get expensive for you this coming year. That’s why this was such a devastating missed opportunity. It gets harder now.”

Beane was the one who traded for Stefon Diggs.
Moreover, he was the one who traded the pick that wound up being Justin Jefferson, arguably the best WR in the league right now.
So, now that the Bills will pay Allen and Diggs a combined $60 million next season, how will he manage to keep the rest of the band together and pay everybody?
Yeah, the Bengals had to go through hell to put this roster together, but they’re knocking on the door of another Super Bowl trip, and will continue to compete for years to come.
How is that a bad thing?
