The New York Mets were busy in the starting pitcher market this offseason.
After watching Jacob deGrom depart for the Texas Rangers, the team responded by signing Justin Verlander, Kodai Senga, and Jose Quintana to bolster their rotation.
Senga will be an interesting pitcher to watch as spring training unfolds.
However, a concern has arisen with the young right-hander.
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Senga struggled a little bit in his first bullpen session with the team.
But Heyman notes that the Mets remain confident that he’ll eventually adjust and be able to adapt just fine to his new surroundings.

It certainly wasn’t the way Senga wanted to start things off with his new team, nor was it what the Mets wanted to see.
Fortunately, it’s only spring training, and it’s still quite early in the process, so Senga has a lot of time to correct any issues.
The Mets gave him a five-year deal not long after signing Verlander and Quintana and have built one of the top starting rotations in all of baseball next to the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, and Philadelphia Phillies.
Again, Senga has time on his side, as do the Mets.
It certainly wasn’t the best first impression, but Senga should be a solid addition to a Mets team that has lofty aspirations for the 2023 season and beyond.
The team is looking to rebound from a disappointing first-round playoff exit after winning 101 games during the regular season.
Senga will certainly help give them a chance to go deeper.
