All things considered, Kyrie Irving will go down as the worst signing in Brooklyn Nets’ history.
He claimed he was looking forward to making history with the team he grew up rooting for, yet it seemed like it had to happen on his own terms.
Kyrie wanted to call all the shots, and we don’t mean just on the court.
He wanted to handpick who coached him, who the GM was, when to play, who would start at center (DeAndre Jordan), and how much money he’d make whether he played or not.
But things don’t work that way in real life, especially not when your team is owned by one of the most ruthless business moguls on Earth.
Joe Tsai wasn’t going to be bullied by any basketball player, so he never caved into his demands, not even when he finally agreed to cut the cord and make him someone else’s problem.
So, now that Kyrie is finally gone, GM Sean Marks didn’t hesitate to also take a shot at the guy who asked for him to be fired just a couple of months ago:
“My goal here, and our goal is from ownership all the way down, is to put something out on the floor that everybody can be proud of, you can see consistent effort, you can see availability, and you can see competitive spirit,” Marks said.

It’s kind of ironic to see that Marks was the one who actually got Kyrie and Kevin Durant to sign with them, as well as the one who complied with his demands early in their tenure in Brooklyn.
At the end of the day, the GM outlasted the two spoiled superstars — who never seemed to actually care about winning a championship or not.
So, props to the Nets for not giving up and putting themselves in a solid position for the future after this infamous and dark tenure.
