Each year, MLB awards a Gold Glove award to a player of every position in each league.
However, the very best defensive recognition is the Platinum Glove.
All Gold Glove recipients in MLB are eligible for the pair of league Platinum Gloves (one for the American League and another one for the National League).
The two winners are determined through fan voting.
The Platinum Glove made its debut in 2011 and it is given to each league’s outstanding defensive performer.
Cortes Congratulated And Thanked Trevino
The winner of the AL’s Platinum Glove this year was New York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino.
Trevino had an incredible 21 Defensive Runs Saved and 19.1 Framing Runs.
He was a master of the art of deceiving umpires into thinking balls were actually strikes.
Not only that, but he can also successfully lead a pitching staff, block balls in the dirt, and control the running game with his arm.
The communication with his hurlers is, perhaps, his best quality, at least according to Yankees ace Nestor Cortes.
“I can say for the rest of my life I threw to a platinum glove winner. Thank you for doing all the homework. My success this year doesn’t start without you putting in endless hours of work. We are running it back next year!,” Cortes tweeted.

Cortes’ message tells us what we already thought: Trevino works a lot in the clubhouse and probably at home preparing for each game, guiding his pitchers and applying the best possible plan to attack opposing offenses.
That’s the kind of dedication that true winners have to show if they want to go down as the best at their craft.
Trevino was the best at what he does in 2022.
