The Minnesota Timberwolves got some great news regarding one of their star players.
In the middle of a playoff chase, the Wolves need their best players to be available.
After recently losing Anthony Edwards, it appeared to many that their playoff hopes were smashed.
But, they just found out that Karl Anthony-Towns is set to return.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Towns is expected to return to the floor on Wednesday night.
ESPN Sources: After missing 51 games with a calf injury, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns plans to make his return vs. the Atlanta Hawks tonight. Towns has been out since Nov. 28, and comes back with Minnesota ninth in the Western Conference playoff race.

Towns has already missed 51 games, but he can be a big boost for the Timberwolves’ offense.
Seeing how Towns and Rudy Gobert mesh as they make a playoff push will be interesting.
Towns is one of the best shooting big men in the league, allowing him to play on the perimeter.
Also, the Timberwolves should have no problem rebounding the basketball with those two on the floor.
Even though Towns is back, many fans should temper their expectations early on.
Would assume he'll need at least a week to get anywhere near game speed, but probably more, really.
This is great news for KAT but I feel like we should all temper our expectations a bit.

Some fans even think Towns could take them over the top.
Especially if they can get Edwards back over the next few games.
Minnesota is looking to have its full roster on the floor for the first time in the new year.

If the Wolves can play their way into the playoffs they might be a tough out in the first round.
Not many teams will be interested in matching up with them.
Only a game from getting out of play-in range. IF they stay healthy, not an ideal 1st round opponent.

Keep an eye on how long it takes Towns to get back into game shape.
His play will directly impact how far the Wolves can go.
