The NBA has made several changes and added more awards to help provide some intrigue to the regular season and postseason.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has been determined to find ways to spice up the league schedule and has already successfully implemented things like the Play-In Tournament and In-Season Tournament.
Both tournaments have been successful as fans have tuned in to the events, as high-stakes basketball games are always a good idea.
From an awards standpoint, Silver and company have also made a handful of changes including the addition of awards like the Most Clutch Player.
The NBA also instituted a rule where players must be active for at least 65 games to qualify for any of the usual regular-season awards.
As far as MVP goes, NBA legend Rick Barry believes there should be one for each conference, per SiriusXM NBA via NBA Buzz on Twitter.
“It is insane that they don’t have an MVP for the Western Conference and an MVP for the Eastern Conference,” Barry said.

Barry might be on to something as the league already added awards for Western and Eastern Conference Finals MVP for the playoffs.
Throughout the history of the NBA, the MVP award has spanned both conferences and gone to one individual, but splitting it up could be something Silver explores.
Fans probably disagree with Barry’s idea because the meaning behind MVP is it’s supposed to capture the accolades of one player.
It might be too drastic of a change considering all the other things that were recently implemented, but it’s a fun thought at least.
